BIPOC* REsources

*Committed to using person-first language, we use the term BIPOC to refer to Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color.

Did you Know?

BIPOC communities have increased barriers to receiving the behavioral health care they need?

Barriers such as cultural stigma, provider discrimination, and lack of health insurance contribute to the disparities in behavioral care among BIPOC communities. Learn more about racism and mental health here.

Additionally, according to  the American Psychological Association, only 16% of the U.S. psychology workforce consisted of BIPOC providers in 2020. This data illustrates additional challenges BIPOC communities face in finding culturally competent behavioral health services or providers who speak their native language.
